What Do We Believe?
For a brief summary of what we believe, our name is a good place to start.
SOVEREIGN GRACE
We believe the Bible teaches that everyone is born dead in their sins, fully deserving of the wrath of God. Salvation is by the sovereign grace of God alone; not on the basis of a person’s worthiness, but by His great love in sending his Son, Jesus Christ, who lived a perfect life on their behalf, died to pay the full price of their sin on their behalf, and conquered sin and death on their behalf so that they might be saved through Him and Him alone.
God saves people, not out of a need of His own or response to a catastrophe out of His control, but as part of a plan organized before time began so that His awesome character would be fully displayed to the praise of His own glory. It is God’s sovereign grace that not only gives a sinner life, but also sustains and protects believers through the power of the Holy Spirit.
BIBLE
The Bible alone is the sole, infallible standard and guide for faith and practice in our daily lives. We are committed to the expositional preaching of God’s Word in our Lord’s Day services, and support the great biblical doctrines commonly referred to as “the doctrines of grace”.
CHURCH
CHURCH – We are a spiritual family united by the common bond of salvation through Christ alone. We will still wrestle with the effects of sin and temptation, and need one another to continually uphold, encourage, pray for, admonish, and be faithful to each another as we grow and serve one another in love. We seek to follow Jesus Christ’s command in Matthew 28:18-20 to spread the Gospel with the anticipation of joining Him in heaven one day.
For more information about what we believe, we hold to the great doctrines of the Protestant Reformation, as stated in the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith, sometimes labeled “doctrines of grace” or more currently associated with the term “Reformed Baptist”.
But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
